Yolmo Wellness Trek
The hidden Yolmo valley is a treasure trove of spiritual power places blessed by Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, and his Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal. We will trek, meditate and do yoga, allowing our mind, body and spirit to refresh and recharge. We will also spend time at Namo Buddha in Kathmandu.

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu
A representative from Adventure Kora will receive you at the airport. After checking in at your hotel at Boudha you can opt to visit Boudhanath, one of the biggest stupa in Nepal, also a UNESCO heritage site.
Day 2 : Kathmandu trip preparation and city tour
Today, we will be making several visits to UNESCO heritage site in Kathmandu. First stop is to Swayambhunath, also known as the “Monkey Temple”. Feel connected to your spiritual self while you take a Kora around the stupa. Hold a discussion on dharma with a Buddhist monk ( lama). Head to Thamel for lunch, and then to Patan Durbar Square, one of the three ancient kingdom of Kathmandu Valley. Dinner at Boudha
Day 3 : Kathmandu to Shermathang drive: ( 65kms) 5-6 hours
We drive early morning to Shermathang, a quaint Sherpa Village in the Himalayan foothills, the first stop of our wellness trek. Explore the village by yourself and enjoy the view of Jugal Himal. Take a pleasant walk to the statue of Guru Rinpoche build by Khenpo Namdrol. In the evening , we will have a yoga and meditation session.
Day 4 : Shermathang to Tarkeghyang: 4 hours
The trail from Shermathang to Tarkeghyang is relatively easy with flat plains and lush forest cover. En route, we will stop at the Milarepa Cave, the ‘Tiger Cave of the Lion fortress; where Milarepa, the 11th century Tibetan Buddhist yogi and poet meditated for three years. Learn about his life, and the importance of the site to Yolmo’s tradition. We will hold a Ganachakra Puja, offering food and drinks to Lord Buddha. This is in essence of Vajrayana Buddhist practice to generate merit (good karma), purify negativity and invoke blessings.
Day 5 : Tarkeghyang (Ama Yangri peak hike)
Hike up to the Ama Yangri Peak. A three to four hours walk, the trail takes us through pleasant trails of rhododendron forest. Enjoy the panoramic view of Kathmandu valley towards the south, and scenic views of Langtang, Manaslu, and on a clear day even Everest. At the peak we will conduct a ‘Mountain smoke offering puja’, a ritual intended to clear negative karma, balance elements for health and create a positive environment. This will be followed by group meditation. Overnight at Tarkeghyang.
Day 6 : Tarkeghyang to Melamchigaon: 4-5 hours
Retracing the steps of Guru Rinpoche footprint on his journey to meditate, we head towards Melamchigaon. Here we will pay a visit to the Nyida Rang-zung cave (Naturally Appearing Sun and Moon), one of the many caves where he meditated. Time permitting, we will conduct a prayer for Guru Rinpoche.
Day 7 : Melamchigaun to Thimbu: 4-5 hours
The trail descends downwards through forest covers and a suspension bridge. Continuing upstream on the River Melachmi path, we arrive at Thimbu.
Day 8 : Drive to Namobuddha: 5 hours drive
We will reach Namo Buddha Stupa in the late afternoon. Take a tour of Namo Buddha Stupa and the Thrangu Tashi Yangsi monastery. At the monastery, we will be granted audience with the Abbott or Senior Lama. Head back to the hotel for dinner and a session of restorative yoga and meditation.
Day 9 : Full day at Namobuddha
Wake up early with a morning yoga session followed by a healthy breakfast. After a short break, we commence our meditation session. We will practice Samatha meditation, which is a technique to calm your mind. This will help in the session right after lunch on the introduction to Lojong mind training meditation. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, we will have a restorative yoga and meditation session before dinner.
Day10 : Drive to Kathmandu 2 hours drive
We start early with a morning yoga session, followed by breakfast. The drive back to Boudha is short. Right before lunch, we will visit one of the Tibetan Thangka art training centre at Boudha. Interact with artisans to understand the art and its spiritual process. Later in the day, we will have a session on sound healing therapy.
Day 11 : Final Day in Kathmandu
On your last day, head for a Tibetan massage session to rejuvenate yourself. Stroll around Boudha stupa, and enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants overlooking the stupa. Visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square and its museum, and also explore the streets of thamel for some souvenirs shopping. We will have a cultural dinner to celebrate our trip.
Day 12 : Final Departure
A representative from Adventure Kora will drop you off at the airport.
