Langtang Valley Trek

 Located near Kathmandu, Langtang Valley is the perfect destination for those who are looking for a relatively easy route with shorter walks and lower altitude. The route will take us through quaint villages, terraced farms, forest, and majestic views of the Himalayan ranges.

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)


    A representative from Adventure Kora will escort you from the airport to your hotel. In the afternoon, you can opt to take a short excursion through the city, especially the Kathmandu Durbar Square to take you on a cultural and historical tour of the ancient city.  

  2. Day 2: Trek preparation in Kathmandu


    If you still have some last minute trek supplies to purchase, our guides will take you to some of the adventure sports store. We’ll head back to the hotel for dinner where the guide will orient you about the trek.

  3. Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 7-8 hours


    We drive towards Syabrubesi in the morning, the starting point of our trek.  The winding road to Syabrubesi is not a smooth ride but it is still enjoyable. On a clear day the route offers spectacular view of Manaslu, Annapurna and Ganesh Himal.

  4. Day 4: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6 hours


    Following the Langtang River, we slowly ascend and descend the route that takes us through thick forest of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo. Keep a lookout for local wildlife in the area such as the wild-throated martens and langoors. These forests are also home two wild boars, red pandas and the Himalayan Black Bear. Upon crossing the suspension bridge over Langtang River, we'll steadily climb the steep trail that leads us towards Lama Hotel.  

  5. Day 5: Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village: 6-7 hours


    Right after breakfast, we'll continue towards Langtang Village. Today's route will takes us through scenic mountain landscape, waterfalls and meadows. After crossing the bridge at the Langtang River, the trail leads to the valley. From here, the trail descends downwards. We'll pass through small settlements, several water mills, prayer wheels, and also a Buddhist monastery before reaching Langtang village. After a short break we'll continue towards Mundu.  

  6. Day 6: Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft): 4-5 hours


    We start early to head towards Kyangin Gompa, one of the important monasteries of the region. The route passes through several watermills, stones painted with Tibetan Mantras, prayer wheels, mani walls, and sacred mounds of rocks with Buddhist inscriptions. As we near Kyangin Gompa, the splendid view of  Mount Ghanchepo (6,387 m) and Langtang Lirung (7,227 m) becomes clearer. Today's trek is shorter in order to help us acclimatize to the weather. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Kyangin Gompa and its surrounding area.

  7. Day 7: Acclimatization- Explore Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft) 7-8 hours


    In order to acclimatize, we'll head towards Tserko Ri which is located at a high altitude. The trail first passes through yak pastures before it steadily ascends towards Tserko Ri. The high vantage point at Tserko Ri is a great location to view the sunrise. After spending some time at Tserko Ri, we head down to Kyangin Gompa.

  8. Day 8: Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel: 6-7 hours


    Turn around to see the Kyangin Gompa one last time before we head downhill. Retracing our steps back to Lama Hotel, we will walk at a leisurely pace. The route will take us through forest and rustic villages which are inhabited by the Tamang people.  

  9. Day 9: Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi: 4-5 hours


    We’ll retrace our steps towards Syabrubesi. While you head towards Syabrubesi, enjoy the walk through the forest, villages, and the picturesque views of the mountains.

  10. Day 10: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu: 7-8 hours


    The drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu is enjoyable with scenic views of the hills and mountains. Drive back reminiscing about the trek, and about the majestic mountains.

  11. Day 11: Final departure


    A representative from Adventure Kora will drop you off at the airport.
