For those looking for quieter and slightly off-beaten trekking route, and higher altitude trekking in Annapurna region, Khowpra Ridge route is highly recommended. Walk through some remote trails of Annapurna region, live in tea-house lodges with spectacular views of  the Annapurna region with stunning views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fang and Nilgiri mountains.

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

     

    A representative from Adventure Kora will escort you from the airport to your hotel. In the afternoon, you can opt to take a short excursion through the city, especially the Kathmandu Durbar Square for a cultural and historical tour of the ancient city.

  2. Day 2: Trek Preparation Day

     

    If you still have some last minute trek supplies to purchase, our guides will take you to some of the adventure sports stores. We’ll head back to the hotel for dinner where the guide will orient you about the trek.

  3. Day 3: Drive to Pokhara (827m/2,700ft) : 6-7 hours drive

     

    We start early towards Pokhara which is around 6-7 hours' drive from Kathmandu. After you check in to your hotel, head out to the lakeside area. You can go boating at the serene Phewa Lake and if there's still time; go on a short hike to the Peace Pagoda. At the top you will be greeted by the panoramic view of Pokhara city and Mt. Fishtail.

  4. Day 4: Pokhara to Tadapani: 30 minutes drive, 5 hours hike

     

    We’ll first drive to Kimche, the starting point of our hike. Some part of today’s trail is steep. We’ll make a quick stopover at the picturesque Gurung village of Ghandruk.  Along the way, we’ll pass through lush green forests areas, rhododendron trees and the pleasant sound of birds chirping.  

  5. Day 5: Tadapani to Dobato (3,350m/10,990ft): 4-5 hours

     

    Today’s route will take you through some remote trails. The route gives you a glimpse of the rich biodiversity of the Annapurna region. Throughout the way you’ll pass through beautiful rhododendrons and see a wide variety of wildflowers. While you head to Dobato, the mesmerizing views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South will keep you company.

  6. Day 6: Dobato to Khowpra (3640m): 6-7 hours

     

    The route from Dobato slowly turns uphill. Gradual change in altitude will take us through alpine meadows to open pastures. At Khowpra, we head downhill to the view point at Khowpra Ridge that overlooks the Kali Gandaki River.  From this viewpoint you’ll scenic panorama of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Annapurna South.

  7. Day 7: Khowpra Danda (Day-trip to Khayer Lake, 4660m) 3640m: 7-8 hours [Packed lunch at Khayer lake]

     

    After an early breakfast, we head towards the Khayer lake. The lake area is surrounded by Hindu and Buddhist Shrines since it is considered to be holy. Taking a dip in its water is believed to help one attain Nirvana. From the lake you see splendid views of Fang and other mountains.    

  8. Day 8: Khowpra to Tatopani 1250m: 5-6 hours

     

    The trail is mostly downhill and easy. Walking at a leisurely pace, you can take your time to view the beautiful view while you pass by landscaped  terraces and picturesque villages. After you settle down in your hotel, head out to the hot springs at Tatopani.

  9. Day 9: Tatopani to Pokhara drive: 6 hours drive

     

    We’ll drive to Pokhara early morning. It’ll take around six hours to reach Pokhara. At Pokhara feel free to head out to the lakeside and explore the place on your own. There are many curio shops, bars and eateries for you to explore. You can get some last minute shopping done, or find a quiet corner in one of the many cafes at the lakeside.

  10. Day 10: Pokhara to Kathmandu

     

    We'll head back to Kathmandu after breakfast. You can spend the day at leisure in Kathmandu or opt to take a city tour with our guide or finish some last minute souvenir shopping.

  11. Day 11: Final departure

     

    Adventure Kora's representative will drop you off at the airport.
